Two side-by-side images show a man eating at a restaurant and a the same man being scared by his own reflection.

Erling Haaland has been one of the most popular players so far this FIFA World Cup, both on the pitch and off it.

But with the Norwegian striker’s Snapchat already going viral, another video recently started doing the rounds that looked set to top all memes that came before it. In the clip, Haaland is sitting in a restaurant at a table by a mirror, eating. He turns to his left, sees himself in the mirror, and appears to give himself a jump scare before quickly going back to his food.

It’s a clip so perfect it seems to good to be true, which is exactly what it is.

The viral clip of Haaland eating isn’t real

Judging by the comments, and the number of shares that clip has had on other platforms, a lot of people seem to think it’s real. But as one person pointed out, the footage appears to be an AI edit of this video from TikTok comedy duo Jin Long and Qui Qui.

That video, in which Jin Long plays a character (you can see multiple examples of him playing the same character on their TikTok page), was uploaded on June 15.

It appears that someone has edited the video — likely using AI — to superimpose Haaland over Long.

Footage of Norweigan striker Erling Haaland scaring himself while eating has gone viral. But the clip is an AI edit of another viral clip. Mashable
